What We’ve Been Watching: Prisoners, Mixtape, Logan Lucky and The Killer

Choosing what to watch next is always tough; to help with your decision making our Mulls talk you through four of the movies they've been watching recently.  
Justin has been watching Prisoners (the 2013 film from director Denis Villeneuve), Neil talks about being surprisingly moved by 2021's Mixtape, Richard heads back to 2017 to consider Soderbergh's other heist movie Logan Lucky, and finally Darren discusses David Fincher's return to the crime genre with his adaptation of graphic novel, The Killer.

For this week's episode, Justin has challenged the rest of the mulls to compare the film performances of two giants of contemporary Hollywood: Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington.  Is it all about Forrest Gump, Saving Private Ryan, Road to Perdition, Catch Me If You Can, Big... or The Hurricane, Malcom X, Glory, Training Day, Man on Fire.... and, of course the film that brought them together, Philadelphia. How could you possibly choose?  Well... we try....

What We’ve Been Watching: The Exorcist, The Old Oak, Reptile and Totally Killer

In this week's episode, our team bring along a film they've watched recently and share their thoughts. Justin starts by discussing his (perhaps controversial) opinion of William Friedkin's classic 70s horror movie The Exorcist, Darren reviews what might be Ken Loach's final film The Old Oak, Richard has been watching the latest Netflix movie, Reptile, starring Benico del Toro, Justin Timberlake and Alicia Silverstone, while Neil talks about everything he enjoyed in the latest comedy/sci-fi/horror slasher on Prime Video - Totally Killer - while. Along the way, Darren is somehow anointed with a new nickname...

Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway), Richard draws our attention to 99 Homes (dir Ramin Bahrani, st. Andrew Garfield, Michael Shannon) and our host, Neil, wraps things up with recent horror (appropriately for this Halloween release), Cobweb (dir. Films You LOVE - but nobody else does!

For this week's episode, Richard challenged his fellow Mulls to admit to films that they love but which the rest of the world just doesn't get... Maybe it's a nostalgic film from the past that hasn't aged too well, or a film that the critics just didn't appreciate, or a movie that didn't get the love it really deserved at the box office. Whether it's because of an actor you would watch in absolutely anything, a director you adore, or a genre that you just find unmissable: what film is your guilty pleasure? And, do you really need to feel guilty about it?!

Summer breakdown

We're back! 
 
We are all back sitting around the table and have so much to discuss! We thought we would start with a review of the summer blockbusters, the ones we saw, the ones we missed, the ones we wish we had seen and, of course, the ones we wish we had missed!!

Edinburgh fringe live episode

Whilst 3 of our mulls were in Edinburgh they had the chance to perform a live episode. Darren hosted and asked us if you could only save one movie from 1999, which one would it be?
